Pearls are timeless — here is some history

Pearls are timeless — here is some history

I love seeing photos of the ladies from the 1920s with their long pearl necklaces and flapper dresses. I have heard many stories about mothers and grandmas who passed their pearl jewelry down. I enjoy wearing my pearl coin earrings day to day in a casual fashion.

Pearls have been a part of human fashion for thousands of years. Pearl jewelry dates as far back as to the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians.

Freshwater pearls are the most common pearl that is used in jewelry today because of their unique luster and color variations. They come in a wide range of colors, from white and cream to pink, lavender, and even dark colors like forest green and black.

Freshwater pearls are a type of pearl that is formed in freshwater mussels. Unlike saltwater pearls, freshwater pearls are typically grown in lakes, rivers, and other freshwater sources. They are an ethical choice for jewelry fashion because they are typically farmed sustainably and environmentally-friendly. They are grown in freshwater sources that are carefully managed to ensure the health and well-being of the mussels and the surrounding ecosystem.

Another reason why freshwater pearls are so appealing in jewelry fashion is their versatility. They can be used in a wide range of jewelry designs, from classic and elegant pearl necklaces to modern and edgy pearl earrings. Freshwater pearls can be paired with a variety of other materials, such as gold, silver, and gemstones, to create unique and eye-catching pieces.

I love to design and make jewelry with pearls because they are beautiful and elegant and are timeless.
